Course Description
Our Aviation SMS course is designed for people in positions ranging from Accountable Manager through to Safety Officer. It is equally applicable for organisations who are still to implement SMS or those that have mature SMS already in place.
It is particularly valuable to organisations with established SMS to crosscheck knowledge and compliance, as well as to enhance the integration of SMS into their business.
This course requires participants to have a suitable level of language, literacy and numeracy proficiency and a basic level of digital literacy to comprehend course content, participate in group activities, and complete assessment activities.
Course Content
This Aviation SMS Course is a complete SMS package. It includes essential fundamental safety concepts required for SMS, where SMS has evolved from, why it is required and what each component and element mean.
Most importantly, the course details how your SMS should work as a system, and not just the sum of individual elements. It also discusses ICAO input and CAA State Safety Programme requirements.
There is information on the critical need for safety culture and the Human Factors required to effect this. The course will also include how to implement SMS and what is required to make it compliant.
There is a combination of theory, case studies and practical exercises to fully optimise the learning experience. While the course utilises the ICAO SMS structure as the underlying basis, it is appropriate to students from all jurisdictions.
